Liquid detergent for clothes washing is a water-based cleaning agent that uses a blend of ingredients, primarily surfactants and enzymes, to break down and remove dirt, oils, and stains from fabrics. Its liquid form allows it to dissolve easily in all water temperatures and be used for pre-treating stains.

Key Ingredients and Their Functions

Liquid detergents are complex formulas with several components working together to ensure effective cleaning. 

• Surfactants: These are the primary cleaning agents. They reduce the surface tension of water, allowing it to penetrate fabric fibers, surround dirt and oil particles, and suspend them in the water until they are rinsed away. Common types include linear alkylbenzene sulfonates (LAS) and alcohol ethoxylates.

• Anti-redeposition Agents: Compounds like carboxymethyl cellulose help prevent dirt particles that have been removed from the clothes from settling back onto the fabric during the wash cycle.

• Fragrances and Dyes: These are added for aesthetic appeal, providing a "clean" scent and visual identity to the product itself, although they do not contribute to the actual cleaning process.
